Shane has over twelve years technical mortuary experience working at New Zealand’s largest and busiest forensic mortuary at Auckland District Health Board. Here he was responsible for training staff and supervising the post mortem CT scanning service in addition to working as a Senior Mortuary Technician.
Shane’s vast experience includes complex autopsy cases, homicide and suspicious death investigations, perinatal, and paediatric post-mortems. He has also been involved with numerous disaster victim identification operations.
His wealth of experience in teaching and operational success within the mortuary environment will bring a new and exciting area to Communio by way of future training and learning and development for Mortuary Technicians in New Zealand. Shane also brings significant local knowledge and experience in mortuary operations which provides valuable input into the ongoing improvement and delivery of mortuary services at each of Communio’s locations.
Shane’s dedication to ensuring the tūpāpaku and their whānau are at the centre of the service Communio and their team provide, is integral to Shane’s philosophy.
