Anatomic Pathologist and Co-Clinical Director

Dr Mark Tullett’s journey in medicine began with his qualification in Dentistry from the University of Leeds in 2002, followed by membership exams in dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2004. He then gained extensive experience in maxillofacial surgery, working full and part-time until commencing medical school in Brighton in 2006, where he graduated in 2011.

Mark’s passion for pathology led to his Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2019, preceded by earning the Certificate of Higher Autopsy Training in 2018. He also holds a postgraduate Master's degree in Genomic Medicine from the University of Cambridge.

Since achieving his Fellowship, Mark has worked as both an Autopsy and Surgical Pathologist for Coronial Services in Western Sussex, UK. His training has included advanced education in Virtual Autopsy (Virtopsy) at the University of Zurich, where he gained expertise in CT imaging, radiology-pathology interface, and the establishment of virtual autopsy services.

In 2022, Mark relocated to New Zealand to join Communio, focusing on coronial autopsies. In 2024, Mark accepted a part-time role as Co-Clinical Director for Communio providing clinical leadership to the company and our network of Pathologists.

His professional interests include advancing less invasive autopsy techniques, cardiac pathology and dermatopathology/soft tissue pathology. 

Based in Kāpiti, Mark enjoys beach walks with his partner Amy and their two dogs, Benzo and Zeby.  In his downtime, he pursues DIY projects and blade-smithing, when time allows.
