MORTUARY ASSISTANT - DUNEDIN

Communio Ltd specialise in end of life care and coronial services across New Zealand, one such service is the management of the Mortuary at Dunedin Hospital. We are looking for a hardworking, compassionate and motivated individual with the appropriate skillset to join the mortuary team to assist in the care of the deceased/tūpāpaku and their visiting whānau.

This exciting role is to assist the Mortuary Technicans in all aspects of the mortuary duties including the non-technical tasks within the autopsy theatre suite, releasing deceased/tūpāpaku to funeral directors or whānau and conducting viewings with whānau.

The successful applicant should have:

• Ability to prioritise workload
• Empathy
• Cultural awareness
• A willlingness to learn and uphold the values of Kaitiaki
• A willingness to undertake tasks involving a degree of distress given the nature of the role
• A reasonable degree of physical fitness
• Ability to work unsupervised and as part of the team
• Be computer literate
• Previous work within the industry (desirable)

We are looking for full time applicants, however job share may be considered.

Working hours: 8am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday – for on-call cover once trained would be required.
