Roger Lysaght, Clinical Services Manager

Roger Lysaght joined Communio in March 2022.

Roger originally trained as a Medical Imaging Technologist in New Zealand. Immediately after graduating, he moved to Australia for lifestyle and to seek training opportunities in both Computerised Tomography (CT) and Ultrasound scanning. Over the next 10 years in Australia, he worked both in public health and later joined a private Radiology practice. While working clinically as a Sonographer he also oversaw five private practice sites.

Since returning to New Zealand in 1995, he has had multiple clinical and management roles across both District Health Boards and private practice. He initially worked for Good Health Wanganui (Whanganui DHB) as the Radiology Manager where he also completed a Bachelor of Health Science. He then joined Fulford Radiology Ltd in New Plymouth as the Charge Radiographer where he established the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) service in Taranaki having recently completed a Fellowship in MRI in the US. He was then asked to join Capital and Coast DHB in Wellington as the Radiology Service Leader. During this period, he and his wife Tracey joined Roger’s parents as partners in their kiwifruit orchard business back in their home region of the Bay of Plenty. In 2005 he was given the opportunity of the Radiology Managers role with Lakes DHB. In 2010 Roger was appointed to the Service Manager, Ambulatory Service at Lakes DHB and then later in 2017, the Service Manager Clinical Support Service and Director of Allied Health, Scientific and Technical Professions (DAHST) roles.

Roger has an extensive history of service and operational management, budget and capital planning and staff management of a large number of diverse clinical teams including Senior Medical Officers, Medical Imaging Technologists, Nursing, Administrative and Allied Health, Scientific and Technical professional teams.  Roger was a member of the Lakes DHB Clinical Governance Executive and was a member of the 20 DHB National DAHST group. He has been the DAHST representative on several national MECA negotiations and national working groups including the National Radiology Advisor Group.

Roger brings his many years of experience and knowledge of the NZ health sector, District Health Boards, and private practice to his new role as Clinical Services Manager for Communio. He is enjoying the challenge of learning more about this sector and being able to engage with new groups of health professionals.  

Roger is married to Tracey who was a Business Analyst with Westpac before retiring to become a fused glass artist out of her home studio. They have 2 Border Terriers (Poppy & Ned) who harass all of the cats that dare to come onto their 1-acre block in Te Puke township!
